Choose a day with snorkelling at its heart
Koh Rok and Koh Haa make a strong choice when getting in the water is the reason for your boat day. The outing combines two offshore island settings rather than building the day around a famous beach landmark or a cave visit. Think reef views, the change of colour over sand and rock, and the pleasure of seeing an island from the water.
You do not need to be a scuba diver to appreciate these destinations. Snorkelling is about looking from the surface with a mask and snorkel; the ability to relax in the sea and manage getting in and out of the boat matters more than diving experience. Share whether you already enjoy snorkelling or would be trying it for the first time.

Koh Rok: beaches and reef scenery
Koh Rok is made up of two islands, Koh Rok Nai and Koh Rok Nok. Their beaches and surrounding coral scenery give this part of the outing its island-escape appeal: pale shorelines above the water and reefs to explore beneath it.
For someone who likes both snorkelling and a beach setting, Koh Rok provides an appealing balance of scenery. Beach landings and the amount of time ashore belong to the particular trip plan, so make beach time a priority in your enquiry if it is important to you. Visiting the Koh Rok area does not necessarily mean landing on both islands.
A reef stop is a place to float and look, rather than somewhere to stand. Give coral and marine life space and keep your fins clear of the reef. Taking time to look closely often makes a snorkel more rewarding than trying to cover the largest distance.
Koh Haa: limestone islands and a lagoon setting
Koh Haa brings a different landscape: a group of limestone islands rising from the sea, with a lagoon area between the central islands. The contrast with Koh Rok is part of the attraction of visiting the two together. The rocks and water make the approach a highlight even before you put on a mask.
The central lagoon is known for snorkelling, while areas outside it include deeper water. The day’s suitable snorkelling sites depend on the sea and the group; a photograph of calm lagoon water does not describe every part of Koh Haa or every departure.
Koh Haa also appears in scuba-diving descriptions of underwater caverns and sites such as the Cathedral. Those are different activities from this snorkelling outing. Choose this trip for what can be enjoyed from the surface, without expecting a dive or an underwater cave visit.
Make the water time work for your group
Tell us who wants to snorkel, how comfortable each person feels in the sea and whether anyone would mainly be coming for the scenery. Beginners should describe their swimming confidence as well as their experience with a mask. Someone comfortable in a swimming pool may still want to discuss open-water entry, depth and returning to the boat.
For children, include ages and their experience snorkelling or swimming in the sea. Ask about the proposed assistance and equipment fit for your party. If someone prefers to remain out of the water, we need to establish how that works during the stops so the trip is enjoyable for everyone.
Boat comfort deserves attention too. These are offshore destinations, and the crossing is part of the outing. Compare the offered boat’s seating, shade, boarding and way back aboard from the sea; mention seasickness or mobility concerns before settling on the trip. A private arrangement can be discussed through our private boat trips service, with feasibility based on your date and plan.
Prepare for the sea, with flexibility in your dates
Bring swimwear, a towel, a hat, sun protection suited to marine-park rules and a dry layer for the journey back. A small dry bag keeps essentials together and a waterproof pouch protects a phone near the water. If you have a mask that fits well or need prescription lenses, mention that while planning rather than leaving equipment fit until the first stop.
Conditions decide what the underwater view is like. Visibility can change with swell, recent weather and the site, and fish or other animals do not appear on demand. The attraction is exploring reef habitats; no particular wildlife encounter or water clarity can be guaranteed.
Koh Rok and Koh Haa are seasonal marine-park destinations, so an available date needs to fit site access as well as suitable seas. Put this outing early enough in your stay to leave another possible day. Keep an onward ferry or airport journey separate until you know the trip’s return arrangement.
Koh Rok and Koh Haa, 4 Islands or Phi Phi?
Choose Koh Rok and Koh Haa when the group is most excited about snorkelling and the offshore island setting. It is the place to start if your main question is where to spend a day looking beneath the surface, with island scenery around you.
The 4 Islands tour gives you a broader mixture of beach stops, snorkelling and the water passage through Emerald Cave. The Phi Phi tour puts Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon alongside snorkelling: choose it if those particular sights are your holiday priority. Our Koh Lanta boat tours page compares the overall styles and boat choices.
Arrange your combined Koh Rok and Koh Haa trip
WhatsApp your preferred date, hotel, adults and children’s ages, and everyone’s swimming and snorkelling experience. Tell us if beach time, equipment fit or boat comfort is especially important, and share an alternative date where possible. You can also plan face to face at our shop in front of Rawi Warin Resort & Spa.
Your trip-specific quote confirms the combined route, proposed snorkelling and beach stops, boat and booking format, departure and return timing, pickup or meeting point, total price and child pricing. It explains meals and drinking water, snorkel and flotation equipment, park fees and separate charges, payment and booking terms, and the arrangements if weather or site access changes or cancels the trip. Those details give you the complete outing to review before booking.

Good to know
Koh Rok & Koh Haa tour: your questions answered
Can I visit Koh Rok and Koh Haa on the same trip from Koh Lanta?
Yes. We arrange a combined Koh Rok and Koh Haa snorkelling outing. Koh Rok contributes island beaches and reef scenery, while Koh Haa adds the limestone-islet and lagoon setting. The proposed itinerary establishes the exact water stops and landings for your departure.
What is the difference between Koh Rok and Koh Haa?
Koh Rok is a pair of islands associated with beaches and surrounding reefs. Koh Haa is a rocky island group with a central lagoon and deeper areas outside it. Combining them gives the day a change of landscape above and below the surface; it does not mean every island is a separate landing.
Can a first-time snorkeller join?
First-time snorkelling and limited swimming confidence are different things. Tell us whether you are comfortable in open water, have used a mask before and can manage getting in and out of a boat. The suitable site, equipment and proposed support need to fit your experience. A well-fitting mask and being comfortable floating make a large difference to enjoyment.
Is Koh Rok and Koh Haa suitable for children?
Share the children’s ages and their experience in the sea. Consider the boat crossing, equipment fit, water participation and breaks between snorkels, as well as the destination. If some family members mainly want beach time, compare the actual time ashore with the more varied 4 Islands route before choosing.
Can someone come without snorkelling?
The boat and island views are part of the appeal, but snorkelling is central to this outing. Tell us who would stay out of the water so we can discuss seating, shade and what happens at the stops. If that person’s priority is a long beach visit or famous sights, another route may give the whole group a better balance.
Is scuba diving or a cavern visit part of the tour?
This page describes a snorkelling trip, enjoyed from the surface. Koh Haa’s reputation for scuba sites and underwater caverns does not make those activities part of the outing. You can appreciate the reef and island scenery without booking a dive.
Will we see turtles or other particular marine life?
Marine-life sightings vary with the site, conditions and the animals themselves. Choose the trip for the reef environment and snorkelling experience rather than a promised species. The same applies to visibility: clear-water photographs cannot guarantee the underwater conditions on a particular date.
How much does the combined tour cost, and are park fees included?
Send your date, hotel, party size and children’s ages for the available trip and total price. Park charges, transport and equipment need to be read as part of the complete quote, including anything paid separately. The booking section above sets out the route, inclusions and terms to review before deciding.
When should we plan Koh Rok and Koh Haa during our stay?
Plan it while you still have another possible day on Koh Lanta. Seasonal site closures and conditions offshore can affect availability, even when the weather at your hotel looks pleasant. Avoid relying on a general return estimate for an onward ferry or airport transfer; establish the actual arrangement first.
